THE ROLE
The Telecom/Media/Tech (TMT) Reporter will focus on media research topics, specifically online, mobile and social media, and may occasionally cross over into technology and other topics and projects across the TMT area of coverage. Individual in this role will work closely with the Media Editor to provide relevant and timely marketplace intelligence for the global investment community. The Media Reporter will also interact with the rest of the Global TMT team of reporters and editors. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry contacts and demonstrate the ability to develop new relationships with experts who can speak to strategic trends in the media industry, technology and other areas. Analytical skills, ability to connect the dots and idea generation are other key aspects of the role. The TMT-Media Reporter reports to the Managing Editor, TMT.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Thorough understanding of the US media and technology market, with a strong background in the industry or in journalism.
Ability to cross over into other research topics in telecom or technology is a plus. Prior experience or solid understanding of Telecom or Technology also a plus.
Extensive industry network of contacts in the United States, beyond public relations and investor relations. Ability to develop and maintain new source relationships.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in media or investigative journalism experience a plus
The ability to analyze and identify essential findings; strategize and think broadly forward. Must be passionate, able to grasp complex issues, manage stress, and have good communication, research and interviewing skills.
The ideal candidate will be able to work well within a team, but will also be a motivated, independent worker who is comfortable working from home.
Quality writing, a knack for interpreting interview data and spotting discrepancies in a story

WORK AT HOME (NYC)
As a Commercial Financing Associate for RLA (a consultancy that arranges funding for for either debt or equity scenarios), you will email and telephone prospective deal originators that need help financing their client.
Because of its many funding sources, RLA Consulting does deals other brokers can't.
Your job is to find brokers and consultants (we show you how) who have deals they are having difficulty funding. You do this by telephoning and emailing to describing RLA services. This means many telephone calls and email follow ups, when appropriate.
RLA handles only commercial scenarios. RLA does not do residential.
Highly coveted lenders and investment groups depend on RLA to provide deals. One such lender is a European lender who offers the most highly coveted loan parameters on the planet. Another is a New York firm that accesses pension money from sources that include the AFL/CIO, Teamsters and other major unions.
RLA minimum funding request is $2 Million, however we prefer scenarios of at least $5 Million.
RLA arranges both debt and equity scenarios. In the case of an equity play, funding is provided by an investor in exchange for an equity position.
RLA requires both a retainer and success fee to arrange funding;
You receive 25% of the retainer. Our minimum is $7,500, our maximum is $25,000.
You receive 25% of the success fee, which is usually 3 percent of funded proceeds, but will be less when dealing with a larger or huge deals.
Remember, the person who provides the deal must also be compensated. This person does not share in the retainer, but will receive a percentage of the success fee.

***About the trial administrative position (8-10 hours per week)
This is a part-time position responsible for administering class enrollments and events. Specific tasks include receiving calls, processing enrollments, corresponding with customers and suppliers, and event communications.
